BIOGRAPHY
Pennsylvania native Katrina Cole is a soprano known for her bell-like tone and high notes for days. A crossover artist with training in classical and musical theater singing, Ms. Cole has performed on many stages and recently made her international debut with Cantos Mundo in 2024.
Ms. Cole found a true passion and excitement for new and contemporary works, both in opera and art song, during her undergraduate studies. She has worked with notable composers Tom Cipullo and Melissa Dunphy on some of their pieces, and was honored to perform the world premiere of Nyokabi Kariuki's Veils in 2023. Since graduating from her undergraduate institution, Ms. Cole has begun work as Voce Moderna's artistic assistant, where she manages everything from data collection to running social media platforms to working and communicating with composers about highlighting their works in the Voce Moderna database.
Ms. Cole has also worked as the administrative assistant for Cantos Mundo, a recital series based in Torreón, Mexico. In the summer of 2025, she will be returning to The Big Island to work for the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival as an administrative intern.
Most recently, Ms. Cole performed her master's degree recital featuring works by Debussy, Dunphy, Schoenberg, Turina, and Grever. She was also a featured soloist with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra's The Orchestra Unplugged: Leonard Bernstein - More Than Maestro, where she performed selections from Bernstein's Wonderful Town. Her most recent stage credits include Rosabella in The Most Happy Fella, the ensemble of The Rake's Progress, and Hannchen in Der Vetter aus Dingsda with the University of Memphis Opera, Second Spirit in Die Zauberflöte with the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, and Blanche de la Force in Dialogues of the Carmelites with Penn State Opera Theatre. Ms. Cole is a recent graduate of the University of Memphis where she earned her Master of Music in Vocal Performance with Dr. Paulina Villarreal. Ms. Cole is also a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with Dr. Rachel Copeland.
